| Relevance: Land and Livelihood |
This is widely known that 70% of Indians are own land either as farmers or as farm labourers. The question is why an issue affecting so many millions of people shouldn’t get any attention. We believe that it is not proper to look at the size of land purely from a point of view of economy. The issue of identity and dignity are equally important. Our position is that to deal with a kind of unemployment, poverty and migration there is no other way then to understand the Indian mindset and work around the land issue. Even the modern problems like large size of slums and the growing violence are the direct result of our incapacity to deal with the basic issue of land and livelihood. Whether it is Tolstoy, Gandhi or Vinoba every one of them has articulated the need to have a bottom up planning, bottom being the natural resources and the human requirements.
This is understood by one and all that there is a reverse process happening in India. The very resources that are to be given to the ordinary people of this country are now transferred to create more wealth for a small group. Janadesh is a process to educate people on these issues and mobilize opinion for a policy shift and implementation. History shows that any basic change in the society can be sustainable only if the ordinary people are involved and they are willing to own the process. |

| As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world... as in being able to remake ourselves. |
